Often front teeth can be repaired and improved with the addition of white composite material (composed of plastic and fine glass particles). How Are Composite Fillings Placed?
Composite fillings are usually placed in one appointment. While the tooth is numb, your dentist will remove decay as necessary. Space will then be thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared before the new filling is placed. If the decay is near the nerve of the tooth, a special medication will be applied for added protection. The composite filling will then be precisely placed, shaped, and polished, restoring your tooth to its original shape and function.
Sometimes patients might experience sensitivity to hot and cold food/drinks when composite fillings are first placed. However, if this persists, the filling should be reviewed. You will be given care instructions after your treatment.
Good oral hygiene practices, eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in prolonging the life of your new fillings.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?
The complete procedure takes less than an hour, but a regular teeth cleaning is recommended before the actual teeth whitening session.
• The procedure begins with a short preparation to cover the lips and gums, leaving the teeth exposed.
• The dentist then applies the hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes while the light is activated. During this time, you can relax, watch TV, or listen to music.
• The gel is applied for three 15-minute sessions of light activation, for a total treatment time of 45 minutes.
• Immediately afterward, a sensitivity-reducing fluoride paste-gel is applied to the teeth.
To help maintain the whitening effects of your treatment, your dentist may advise you to avoid certain food and beverages or consume them in moderation to avoid staining your teeth. This includes tea, coffee, red wine, cola, etc. Tobacco products also stain teeth, even after whitening treatments. Thus, your dentist will suggest you quit using them. Further, you should maintain an appropriate oral hygiene (brushing and flossing) regimen to prevent stains from reforming, and see your dentist and hygienist regularly for scheduled teeth cleanings. Toothpaste containing whitening agents also may be suggested by your dentist to maintain the results of the procedure.

Aligners take a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of removable, smooth, virtually invisible plastic trays created and customized for you and only you! Custom Retention at Icon Clinic – Keeping Teeth Straight for The Long-Haul!
Once you have completed your straighter smile treatment, it is important to keep your teeth in their new position irrespective of which brace system we have used.
During your treatment, the teeth are held in position by your braces or aligners, but once the treatment is finished, stretched fiber in the gum will try to pull the teeth back to their original position (known as relapse). It can take time for soft tissue to remodel, in addition, ongoing growth of the jaws will also encourage the teeth to move once treatment has been completed.
At Icon Clinic, we use a variety of retention techniques to help keep your teeth straight for the long-term.
To ensure your teeth stay put, retainers are a lifelong commitment –but thankfully they are both comfortable, discreet, and do not get in the way of your day to day life.
Retainers are either removable or fixed in place, and we recommend their long-term use to ensure the ultimate cosmetic appearance for as long as possible. Removable retainers are worn just at night & fixed retainers are low profile wires attached to the back surfaces of the front 4-6 teeth and are permanently fixed in place.
Most orthodontists will suggest wearing a retainer to hold your teeth in position after the braces are removed. The retainer will assist in adjusting the teeth surrounded by gums as well as to adapt to changes that may occur in the bones in your mouth.
• Retainers are also used after any form of surgery that has been done to realign or readjust your teeth. Aside from that, retainers can also be used to close gaps in teeth and help with speech problems.
• Another common usage for a retainer is to help children with Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD). This disorder is usually the result of a bite problem (teeth that don’t meet when jaws are closed.) It is called malocclusion or bruxism, which results in the grinding of teeth in your sleep.
• Another issue where a retainer can come in useful is when a child develops a tongue thrust. This is an issue where the tongue sneaks between the teeth when they talk. Normally, our tongues are designed to go to the roof of the mouth when we speak. By wearing a retainer, the tongue can be trained to go toward the roof of the mouth instead of sneaking between the teeth.
Nightguard (also known as occlusal splints) is a plastic device that covers your upper and lower teeth. This procedure is used to stabilize the teeth and prevent the traumatic effect of bruxism during sleep. Nightguards also help reduce clenching disorder.
PROSTHODONTICS
If you’re missing one, several, or all of your permanent teeth as a result of an accident, congenital defect, or oral health problems, prosthodontics can restore your smile, as well as your chewing and biting abilities. At our clinic, we offer prosthodontics to safely address complex dental issues.
Teeth can be lost due to gum disease, decay, or injury. Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and improve your appearance and health. They can be made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even help fill out the appearance of your face and profile. Dentures may even improve the look of your smile.
Complete Denture
This procedure is constructed when there are no more teeth left in an arch to restore the appearance of the natural tooth, its occlusion and oral function.
Partial Denture
Partial denature is used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw to fill in the spaces when the patient is missing teeth and prevent other teeth from changing position.
When insufficient tooth structure is left or following endodontic treatment, it’s essential to strengthen the remaining tooth as well as restore shape, appearance, and alignment. Dentists use a crown to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth. Porcelain or ceramic crowns are used and can be matched to the color of natural teeth.
Traditionally crowns have been described as metal or ceramic fused to metal. However, advancing technology has provided materials based on Zirconium. These materials are very strong and durable thus eliminating the requirement for a metal. Ceramic crowns now are the gold standard in providing the ultimate aesthetic result.

The Crown Procedure at Icon Clinic Is Relatively Simple.
First, we anesthetize the problem tooth area. Once completely numb, the tooth is shaped so that the crown will fit correctly. We then take an impression of the tooth to use in the construction of the crown. The impressions are sent to our dental laboratory to create your crown. Meanwhile, we apply a sturdy temporary crown over the problem tooth. Once your custom crown is ready, you’ll come back to Icon Clinic and the crown will be fitted.
A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap (these anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth) and a false tooth or teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

How Long Do Dental Bridges Last?

Inlays and onlays are dental prosthetics that are designed to cap only the upper-most portion of the tooth. Like dental crowns, they are fabricated from porcelain for durability, strength, and cosmetics. Inlays and Onlays are used to treat back teeth which have lost one or more cusps and are secured in place with dental cement.
What is Dental Implant?
Dental implant is a procedure that replaces tooth roots with metal screw like posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function much like real ones. Dental implant surgery can offer a welcome alternative to dentures or bridgework that does not fit well and can offer an option when a lack of natural teeth roots does not allow building denture or bridgework tooth replacements.
How dental implant surgery is performed depends on the type of implant and the condition of your jawbone. Dental implant surgery may involve several procedures. But in general, dental implants can be thought of as artificial tooth roots, similar in shape to screws. When dental implants are placed in your jawbone (A), they bond with your natural bone. They become a sturdy base for supporting one or more artificial teeth, called crowns. A connector – known as an abutment (B) – is placed on top of the dental implant to hold and support your crowns. The crowns are custom-made to match your natural teeth and fit your mouth (C).

Dental implants may require one or more surgical procedures, therefore; you must have a thorough evaluation to prepare for the process, including a:
- Comprehensive Dental Exam
You may have dental X-rays and 3D images taken, and have models made of your teeth and jaw. - Review of Your Medical History
Tell your doctor about any medical conditions and any medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs and supplements. If you have certain heart conditions or orthopedic implants, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics before surgery to help prevent infection. Depending on your medical history, certain tests may need to be performed such as vitamin D, anemia, and sugar level tests. - Treatment plan

What You Can Expect
Dental implant is usually performed in stages, with healing time between procedures. The process of placing a dental implant involves multiple steps, including:

The entire process can take many months from start to finish. Much of that time is devoted to healing and waiting for the growth of new bone in your jaw. Depending on your situation, the specific procedure done, or the materials used, certain steps can sometimes be combined.
After the Procedure
Whether you have dental implant surgery in one stage or multiple stages, you may experience some of the typical discomforts associated with any type of dental surgery, such as:
- Swelling of your gums and face
- Bruising of your skin and gums
- Pain at the implant site
- Minor bleeding
You may need pain medications or antibiotics after dental implant surgery. If swelling, discomfort, or any other problem gets worse in the days after surgery, contact your oral surgeon. After each stage of surgery, you may need to eat soft foods while the surgical site heals.
